This isn’t necessarily meant to be an all-encompassing guide, rather just a few tips and pieces of advice from someone who is also just beginning. Everyone’s experience is different and we all learn at different rates, just be generally open-minded and understanding and you’ll be able to have fun too! This is a bit of a beginner’s foray into the world, starting with a few things that really you just have to pick up by experience rather than someone overtly telling you. Over time, the unraveling of just how big and extensive the roleplay community began to intrigue me so I ended up making an alt and decided that I wanted to dive in! I didn’t initially get into FFXIV for story or character development reasons, I just had some friends who played so I wanted to play with them. I’m familiar with roleplay across the internet, mostly in terms of play-by-post forums a la jcink, proboards, forumotion, etc. As someone who is rather quiet and introverted IRL, I’ve been able to connect and have fun with people through this game more so than I’ve ever really had the chance anywhere else. While this post isn’t necessarily a response to some others I’ve seen, I think that the social aspect of FFXIV is quite wonderful.
